2024 Damage Prevention Seminar

The Gas and Oil Association of West Virginia (GOWV) is hosting its’ third annual Damage Prevention Seminar from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Hope Gas in Jane Lew, WV on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.  The theme of the agenda will be “Back to the Basics” and will focus on highlighting the current 811 regulations and laws as well as covering the responsibilities and requirements following a damage for all affected parties.  In addition, some newly implemented “Best Practices” will be covered.

 

Jerry Poage, Executive Director of WV 811, and Brandon Hahn, Assistant Director of the WV Damage Prevention Board, will kick off the seminar providing a comprehensive overview of the current 811 regulations and requirements in WV.  TX 811 will present on One Call ticket best practices and tips to help ensure effectiveness and accurate response.

 

After lunch, an 811 / One Call panel will be conducted with representatives from WV 811, OH 811, PA 811, KY 811 and VA 811.  This panel will discuss current initiatives and best practices being implemented and utilized in their respective states.

 

The seminar will wrap up with a session featuring Nitander “Nita” Raju, Community Liaison of Pipeline Safety, Eastern Region for USDOT PHMSA.  Nita will cover areas of focus for PHMSA in regard to Damage Prevention.

 

There is no cost to attend, but registration is required.  Lunch will also be provided.
