BLACKROCK RESOURCES is looking for a Mechanical Designer for a role with our client in the Canonsburg, PA area.

  • Prepare 3D models and drawings for assigned projects from sketches and/or verbal instructions with little or no supervision required.
  • Design technical details and specify dimensions, materials.
  • Design & Draft multi-discipline supports details, from concept through AFC
  • Edit drawings and incorporate changes from provided markups and/or verbal instructions.
  • Create material lists and weight reports utilizing 3D model or manually when required.
  • Check drawings and other documents related to the task being performed; verifying correctness and thoroughness fits within project’s intent and 3D model/design drawings.
  • Assist engineers and designers in resolving design issues, interferences/clashes.
  • Interact with project team and clients for resolving drafting/design related issues.
  • Ensure that all drawings adhere to Client, Industry and Company Standards.
  • Maintain project files and folders and follow company standards.
  • Responsible for informing project manager on any concerns relating to their respective assignments.
  • Create and/or perform corrections to the following drawings: General Arrangements, P&ID’s, 3D Model, Piping Plans, Piping Sections, Details, and Isometric Spools.
  • Preparing man-hour estimates.
  • May be required to direct other drafters in the creation of drawings.
  • Perform field work as required to obtain accurate information and create sketches for the design of the project.


  • Requires accredited drafting training and discipline training or have prior working experience.
  • Requires a minimum of X years of Piping drafting and design experience relating to Upstream and Downstream Oil & Gas facilities.
  • Must have working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Proficient with design software i.e. (AutoCAD, CADWorx Plant 3D).
  • Must have a working knowledge of ASME, ANSI, API RP 14C, API Spec 6A, NFPA and OSHA standards.
  • Must be familiar with AISC steel members and AWS weld symbols.
  • Ability and availability to work occasional overtime to include weekends as dictated by project requirements.
  • Field duties require outdoor work in a facility.
  • Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
  • May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.
